Glazed Oranges

Ingredients:

3/4 c. sugar 2 T. lemon juice 1 stick cinnamon 4 whole cloves 8 naval or temple oranges, peeled and sliced 2 T. almond liquer Slivered toasted almonds, optional


Directions:

Combine 1 cup water, sugar, lemon juice and spices in small saucepan; cook over low heat, without stirring, until sugar dissolves. Heat to a boil; cook 5 minutes. Remove spices. Pour syrup over oranges in a heatproof bowl. Chill, covered, until very cold, turning oranges occasionally, at least 2 hours. Garnish with slivered almonds.
